A look into the ocean’s depth at Monaco’s oceanographic museum
If you are spending a weekend around Monaco, the walk to the top of Le Rocher is certainly worth it. The old town of Monaco, with its charming streets and historic atmosphere, provides a perfect backdrop to any visit. My personal highlight of my trip was undoubtedly the Oceanographic Museum, renowned for its fascinating expositions and location. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and cleanliness of the glass, which enabled visitors - myself included - to take pictures of the aquarium’s inhabitants. Furthermore, the museum features decent lighting making the aquatic exhibits stunningly vibrant. Despite the many visitors, the museum never felt overcrowded.
One of the standout features of my visit was the jellyfish pool, which quickly became my personal favorite. This cylindrical tank, with its gentle water flow pushing all the jellyfish in a clockwise direction, was mesmerizing. The carefully placed lights shining from the top illuminated the jellyfish beautifully, avoiding excessive reflections on the glass. However, capturing these stunning creatures on camera was a challenge. Despite the impressive setup, the pictures required considerable effort to remove most of the spots and reflections. Even after meticulous editing, you might still spot a few imperfections, but the beauty of the jellyfish shines through nonetheless.
In conclusion, my visit to the Oceanographic Museum in Monaco was a memorable highlight of my weekend. The museum offers a captivating look into marine life and environmental issues, making it a must-visit attraction. If you find yourself in the region, I highly recommend taking the time to explore this remarkable museum.
