Painting the Sky: Fireworks Galore on Swiss National Holiday 2023
In this blog post, I invite you to immerse yourself in a symphony of lights as we celebrate the Swiss National Holiday. Each photograph is a fleeting moment of wonder frozen in time through the lens of my camera, where the night sky comes alive with cascading sparks and vibrant hues, evoking a sense of awe and enchantment. These mesmerising displays of light serve as a central element of the festivities commemorating the founding of the Swiss Confederation back in 1291, illuminating the skies across Switzerland in a breathtaking visual spectacle.

Fireworks around Lac Léman, also called Lake Geneva, are a cherished tradition during any celebrations in the region. Cities and towns along the lake, such as La Tour-de-Peilz, Le Bouveret and Morges, host impressive firework shows that attract thousands of spectators. These displays take place over the water reducing the risk of fires while creating a magical reflection of lights on the lake's surface.
La Tour-de-Peilz
La Tour-de-Peilz is a charming town located on the northern shores of Lac Léman between the cities of Vevey and Montreux. The fireworks were shot in front of its lakeside promenade on the evening of July 31st.

Le Bouveret
Shortly after this one finished, it was Le Bouveret’s turn. Le Bouveret is nestled on the shores of Lake Geneva in the Valais canton. Due to fire hazards, it was the only fireworks authorised in the whole canton. They did not disappoint!

Morges
Finally, on August 1st, I attended Morges’ fireworks. Morges is located on the shores of Lake Geneva in the Vaud canton next to Lausanne. The scenic promenade along the lake offers stunning vistas of the water, the majestic Alps beyond and that night the fireworks. It was well worth going even if the weather was not great.
